The Thackeray Witches Ghost Tour. ‘They came, They saw, They conquered’!!!!

The Thackeray sisters rose from their coven on 20th April 2011. Their uneasy sleep was interrupted by a request from The Haunted Liverpool Ghost Walks. They were asked to lead a Ghost Tour down to St James’s cemetery. They all have a special relationship with black cats so it seemed fitting they should lead the Ghost tour for Freshfields Animal Rescue. Many of their victims are buried in St James and looking at the orbs in the photographs, a few came back to haunt them.
Dark ‘Pierrepoint’ Dave, Liverpool’s hangman drew the large crowd close and ‘entertained’ them with stories of his inglorious past. People giggled nervously as they made sure they didn’t get too close to him. No one could fail to notice the glint in his eye as he spoke of ‘pulling the lever’ and….. well you get the picture. When everyone was suitably petrified; Hagatha, Ivy and Gwendolyn rounded on the group and led them off into the waiting darkness.
A light mist hung in the air and an eerie silence pervaded the Cemetery as they made their way inside. Leaves rustled and shadowy forms flittered in and out of dark corners – and what was that sweet smell of violets by Walter Slim’s tomb….??? Did the notorious Pillar of Shadow really appear by Huskisson’s Mausoleum?
Just as Homer’s Sirens lured unsuspecting sailors into their lair, the Thackeray sisters lured their victims into the Gothic Cemetery, home to 57,000 dead Victorians.
If you would like to know what happened next you will need to book in for their next Witches special which is on 27th May 2011. The witches will return to their Coven at midnight on 27th May and they won’t be seen again for some moons. Do you dare risk being bewitched by their Talent and Beauty?
And, don't forget, you'll be helping support Freshfields Animal Rescue if you come on this Tour. All profits will be donated to Freshfields, Reg Charity no 508579.

Classic Ghost Night at the Woolton Picture House raises £1500.00!!!

Haunted Liverpool Ghost Walks ran their first ever venture with The Woolton Picture House on March 18th 2011, and an amazing £1540.00 was raised for Freshfields Animal Rescue, reg charity 508579.
The evening commenced at 8.45pm. Over 150 people queued in Mason Street waiting to come in. They were ably entertained by Fredward, Captain Moonlight’s sticky fingered valet. The night itself was still and eerie and the narrow road which is Mason street is unchanged in more than one hundred years (apart from The Picture House which was built in 1927). Just standing in the street feels like you’ve gone back in time to another era.
An air of anticipation was in the air as newcomers to the Picture House wondered what they would find inside. Not a single person was disappointed when they entered the Art Deco Cinema. They sat in plush, wide seats with more leg room than Business Class and marvelled at the single screen Picture House which had survived against the odds. It is the only Independent Picture House in Liverpool and is a much loved jewel in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture Crown.
The show started at 9pm with Captain Moonlight and Ex Chief Inspector Fosgrave telling Tom Slemen’s Ghost stories to a hushed audience. There were chilling tales of whistling ghosts, reborn skeletons and deals with the Devil. As if that wasn’t enough this was followed by a ‘sweep’ with our EMF Ghost Hunting Meters. Victims (sorry, volunteers) were solicited from the audience and proceeded to explore the Picture House. Sadly, the ghosts were a little shy – but there’s always next time.
The Finale was the eleventh most frightening film in the history of Cinema – ‘The Haunting, 1963 version’. This black and white classic kept people on the edge of their seats right up to the macabre finish.
It was a fantastic night and Freshfields Animal Rescue and Haunted Liverpool Ghost Walks would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Joe the Owner/Manager and his dedicated team. It really was a night to remember with an atmosphere that would be impossible to create in a modern cinema.
Thank you Joe!!!!!!!! From everyone at Freshfields Animal Rescue, animals and humans alike…..

Haunted Liverpool Ghost Walks held their first 'Time Travel Experience' night at the Half Way House in Woolton Road on Saturday 26th February2011.
The event included looking at Eistein's Time Travel Theory, Time Slip Stories, Past Lives, The Philadelphia Experience and much more.
The evening was hosted by the ever charming Clem Studholme who entertained and informed the audience with his wit and wisdom.. Clem was ably assisted by the inimitable Dave Cox (aka The Hangman on the Ghost Walks). Dave recounted the incredible story of the Philadelphia Experiment and left us with a lot to think about.
Agnes Davies (our resident Medium) told us about her past lives. Her candour and honesty were totally refreshing and a wave of sadness crossed the room as she told of the tragic circumstances of her previous lives... but she did have a happy ending.
There was also a quiz and Tom Slemen's Time slip stories...
This is what one member of the audience had to say:- "I would like to congratulate you on your Time Travel evening, considering it was your first time running the event I found it an enjoyable and informative session in aid of a very good cause.I look forward to future events covering other strange phenomena .I enjoy Ghost walks but sitting in a warm room with refreshments not that far away can't be beaten."
Gary Brady February 27th 2011.
If you missed this event you can catch it at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton on 2nd April 2011. Tickets are £5.95 with all profits going directly to Freshfields Animal Rescue. They are available from Fort Perch or online at www.ghostwalks.org/bookings.
